Shave-Off 2015

With 2015 coming to a close, it would be silly for us not acknowledge and mention our longest running event, the Head Shave and Fundraiser Auction. This year’s Head Shave raised over $20,000!

Yuk Yuk’s, once again, allowed us to get hair everywhere while raising money to give testicular cancer a kick in the groin, and for that we are supremely grateful. Who did the hair come from, you may ask. It’s a fantastic question with an equally great answer! Below are the amazing individuals who lost their locks for loot:

To our shavees Glenda, Michael, George and Chris, a big thank you goes out to each of you. Without you, there would be no heads in our Head Shave. We hope each of you found it personally rewarding, and we would love to have you back next year!

Speaking of what makes the Head Shave tick, or rather talk, Ryan Smith, our auctioneer for the evening, was as quick, energetic and witty as ever. Ryan, while we get old, your auctioneering skills do not!

A special thank you must also go out to our wonderful sponsors, whom without we would not be able to put this event on year after year. We encourage you to check out and buy everything you can from all the sponsors shown below:

And ultimately, this event would not be possible without the hardworking volunteers that make the show go. In particular, the Oneball UCalgary volunteers not only stood out visually with their vivid orange Oneball hats, but also stood a step above the rest by being the most helpful and courteous people at the event. We hope this is the first of many thank yous that we are privileged to send your way.

Who knew that loot, locks and laughter combine in such a powerful way to fight testicular cancer? We did, and hopefully now you do too. We look forward to seeing everyone next year, when the Head Shave will be bigger, better and balder than ever!
